A Judge Who Understands
Every Side of the Courtroom

Alex Schodowski brings more than a decade of courtroom experience to the bench — as a prosecutor, defense attorney, and Judge Pro Tem in Clallam County District Court. She is committed to ensuring every person who enters the courtroom is treated with fairness, respect, and equal justice under the law.

A graduate of Western Michigan University – Cooley Law School, Alex served as a Clallam County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for more than five years, handling thousands of cases ranging from DUI and felony offenses to serious violent crimes. She developed specialized expertise in DUI prosecution, vehicular assault, sexual assault, violent crimes, and forensic interviewing. She has also served as Judge Pro Tem in both Clallam County District Court and Clallam County Superior Court for approximately ten years, presiding over cases with the same care and impartiality that she will bring to the bench full time.

Today, Alex and her husband Joe operate Schodowski Law Inc. PS in Port Townsend, where she represents clients in criminal defense, DUI defense, and personal injury matters. Her work on both sides of the courtroom gives her a rare and balanced perspective — one grounded in the rule of law and a deep respect for every person who comes before the court.

From 2020 to 2024, Alex also served as in-house counsel for the Peninsula Housing Authority, where she provided legal guidance on matters affecting housing and community services for residents of the Olympic Peninsula.

Alex has built her career serving the people of Clallam County and the Olympic Peninsula. She is a devoted wife and mother of two.

A Vision for Our Courts

Fair & Impartial Justice
Every person who enters the courtroom deserves to be heard with fairness and respect. Alex is committed to applying the law equally, without bias or favoritism, ensuring that justice is truly blind.
Accessible Courts
Our courts should be understandable and accessible to everyone who relies on them — not just attorneys. Alex supports tools and processes that help make the court system easier to navigate, including the continued use and improvement of electronic filing, which expands access and allows individuals and attorneys to interact with the court more efficiently. She will work to ensure court procedures remain transparent and accessible so all members of the community, including self-represented litigants, can meaningfully participate.
Community Safety
With years of experience prosecuting serious crimes and a deep understanding of public safety, Alex will ensure that court decisions protect our community while upholding the constitutional rights of all individuals.
Efficient Case Management
Justice delayed is justice denied. Alex will bring organized, efficient case management to the bench, reducing unnecessary delays and ensuring that cases move through the system in a timely and fair manner.
Continuing Proven Programs
Clallam County District Court has developed important problem-solving courts under the leadership of Judge David Neupert, including Mental Health Court and Veterans Court, which have helped address the underlying challenges that bring some individuals into the justice system while improving outcomes and strengthening community safety. Alex is committed to continuing and supporting these successful programs while ensuring the court remains fair, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the community.
